Chamber and City to Host Surtax Community Forum

The North Port Area Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the City of North Port, will be hosting a Special Surtax Community Forum Monday, November 8th from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm in the Commission Chambers at North Port City Hall. The Chamber is pleased to announce that Sharon Matthews, Member of the Sarasota County Surtax Task Force, and Representatives from the City of North Port will provide a presentation on the Sarasota County Surtax and how it impacts our community. The Sarasota County Surtax is a major funding source for the City of North Port to complete capital projects throughout our community and will be on the November 2022 election ballot for approval by the public. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Surtax funding and how the City of North Port used this funding and the status of past capital projects. The City of North Port will begin the process of discussing and approving capital projects for the next 15 years if the Surtax funding is approved. The City of North Port will be seeking input from those in attendance at the Community Forum and the public to determine what capital projects will be submitted to Sarasota County. This event is open to all Chamber members and to the public. Complimentary snacks and beverages will be provided. To register, please visit the “Event Page” on the Chamber’s website at www.northportareachamber.com.
