    Chamber Hosting “COVID-19 Relief” Golf Tournament
    The North Port Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a “COVID-19 Relief” Scramble Golf Tournament on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club in North Port. The golf tournament will have an 8:00 am shotgun start and the registration fee is $90.00 per player or $360 per team. The golf tournament will be limited to 128 players and will be sold on a first-come/first-serve basis. Limited sponsorship opportunities are still available that provide great exposure for your business. Being that the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce did not qualify or virtually receive any governmental funding assistance during the COVID-19 Pandemic, proceeds from this event will go to support the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce mission as it continues to assist our Chamber Members, the business community and residents of North Port. Registration includes: Green fees, golf cart, continental breakfast, lunch buffet, range balls, contests, raffle prizes and goodie bags. The golf tournament will host a hole-in-one contest at each of the par 3 holes, putting contest, longest drive contest, closest to the pin contest, most accurate drive contest, in the circle contest and "hit it on the green" contest.     Sarasota County C.A.R.E.S. Act Grant
    The North Port Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Sarasota County Government to assist small business/non-profit organizations (100 FTE employees or less) to complete and submit applications to receive funding through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (C.A.R.E.S.) Act Grant. The Chamber will have Business Consultants operating out of the Chamber office, Monday thru Friday, from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm to assist businesses in completing and submitting the C.A.R.E.S. Act Grant online. Eligible businesses/non-profit organizations that were affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic and had a loss of income from March 1, 2020 to the date of their application submission can qualify for up to $49,999.99 from the C.A.R.E.S. Act Grant. The Business Consultants will be available at the Chamber office beginning today, October 19, 2020 thru December 30, 2020. Business Consultants are only available by scheduled appointments. There is no cost to the business/non-profit organization to participate in this C.A.R.E.S. Act Assistance Program. Business/non-profit organizations do not have to be a member of the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce to participate in this C.A.R.E.S. Act Business Assistance Program.
    Grant funding pursuant to this Sarasota County CARES Small Business Relief Grant shall only be used for eligible expenses. Eligible expenses include:
    • Rent payments.
    • Mortgage payments (except for real estate taxes).
    • Utilities payments (water, sewer, electric, gas, solid waste collection, phone, internet).
    • Anything needed to protect employees or customers from exposure to COVID-19.
    • Personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • COVID-19 testing costs.
    • Supplies and equipment for facilitating social distancing or otherwise adapting the business to help comply    with the CDC’s guidelines related to COVID-19.
    • Payroll expenses.
    • Marketing related to reopening.
    • Inventory costs for perishable items related to reopening.
    Scheduling appointments and grant application assistance will be conducted on a first-come/first-serve basis.
    Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
    The North Port Area Chamber of Commerce will be conducting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Dubz BBQ, located at 4391 Aiden Lane in North Port, on Thursday, October 29th at 11:30 am. Please join us as we welcome Dubz BBQ to the NorthPort Area Chamber of Commerce and to the City of North Port and see what types of delicious menu items and services they have to offer. Dubz BBQ will be offering lunch specials those who attend the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies are free and open to all Chamber Members and to the public.
    Kiwanis Club Trunk or Treat Event
    The Kiwanis Club is hijacking Halloween through a contactless trunk or treat event on Halloween at the American Legion, located at 6648 Taneytown Street in North Port from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The goal is to have 400 cars with their trunks open giving out candy to youth in our community. The Kiwanis Club seeking businesses to either do a trunk that day or buy candy for the  Kiwanis Club and our high school students will decorate a trunk and give out candy along with the business sponsor flyers or business cards. The cost would be $450.00, which would buy at least 10,000 pieces of candy and supplies to decorate the trunk. The best decorated trunk (voted on by children) will win a prize.  The Kiwanis Club is also seeking monetary donations so they can buy candy and give it out to anyone who runs out of candy.
