DESCRIPTION:The Sarasota County Surtax is a voter-approved one percent sales tax that is subject to renewal every 15 years. As a major funding source for the City of North Port\, the surtax funds local infrastructure improvements such as public safety\, roads\, sidewalks\, parks\, libraries and schools. In November 2022\, Sarasota County residents will have the opportunity to vote for a continuation of the surtax for another 15 years. This is not a new tax and is currently in effect.\n\n\n\nSpeakers: Sharon Matthews\, Member of the Sarasota County Surtax Task Force\, and representatives from the City of North Port will share a presentation on the Sarasota County Surtax.\n\n\n\nThis event is open to all Chamber members and to the public.
