2026 Committee Structure
The following is a general overview of the Chamber’s committees, including meeting days and times. You are invited and encouraged to participate in one or more committees that spark your interest or serve your business/organization.
Business & Economic Development
Meeting: 8:00 am, 1st Tuesday MonthlyVirtual & In Person QuarterlyCommittee Chair: Kim French, Willis Smith ConstructionThis Committee is designed to improve the local economy and create better conditions for economic growth. It works to create a business-friendly community and promote North Port as a place to locate and grow your business. It works to improve prospects for job creation and retention and development of the human capital. It will monitor the agendas and actions of other public and private economic development organizations in the region and will advise the Chamber about issues critical to the community’s economic growth and business development.
Government Relations CommitteeMeeting: 8:00 am, 4th Thursday MonthlyVirtualCommittee Chair: Sean Burroughs, Compass Health ConsultantsThis Committee acts as the liaison between Chamber Members and various local, regional, and state governing bodies. Committee members also closely monitor any public policy or legislation that may impact the business community. During election years, they also host the Community Candidate Forum and Hob Nob event.
Marketing & Communications CommitteeMeeting: 11:00 am, 1st Friday MonthlyVirtualCommittee Chair: TBDThis Committee identifies and implements ways to promote and enhance the Chamber’s image and place in the community. This Committee is responsible for telling the Chamber’s story through promotional and marketing activities.
Member Services CommitteeMeeting: 8:30 am, 3rd Tuesday MonthlyNPACC, 14140 Tamiami Trail, North PortCommittee Chair: Melanie Hurd, Soleil Dental ClinicThis Committee identifies and implements ways to recruit and support new members, as well as identify and implement ways to maintain existing membership. Their efforts include outreach, welcome visits to new businesses, Chamber orientations, membership drives, retention surveys, member events, legacy deliveries and networking events.
North Port Young ProfessionalsMonthly Networking events are held on the 1st Thursday of the month from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at various locationsPresident: Abby Drumgool, Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota CountyThe North Port Young Professionals is a program of the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce. This networking group is intended to connect6 Chamber members and their employees between the ages of 21-45 via unique networking, marketing and service opportunities.
Professional Development/Education CommitteeMeeting: 4:00 pm, 1st Tuesday MonthlyVirtualCommittee Chair: Gale West, Your Health ConsultantThis Committee provides opportunities for Chamber members and the community to foster business and personal success. They oversee the Lunch & Learn Workshops and the North Port Young Professionals programs.
Resource Development CommitteeMeeting: 9:30 am, 1st Thursday MonthlyNPACC,14140 Tamiami Trail, North PortCommittee Chair: Kim Maddy, Crews Bank & TrustThis Committee designs and implements diverse funding for working capital in support of the Chamber’s mission. This could include enhanced exposure opportunities for members, sponsorships, Chamber fees, public-private funding and grant writing. This Committee also oversees special events sub-committees including the Golf Tournament, Business and Community Expo, A Night at the Races, and Business to Business Expo.
In addition to these standing committees, there will occasionally be a specific work group, sub-committee or task force established for annual events or special projects. These typically meet often for a short period of time.
