My name is Teresa Taft. I am the Community Volunteer Recruiter in North Port. My job is to recruit Big Brothers and Big Sisters in order to keep up with the demand for our youth in need of mentors.

We need both individual partners as well as business partners. If your business encourages volunteerism, the individual employee can apply to be a Big Brother or Big Sister and either meet with their youth for one hour a week during the business day at their school or if virtual is a better option we could bring the kids to your place of business virtually.

For over 50 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast has been matching youth in meaningful, enduring, professionally supported mentoring relationships with adult volunteers who defend their potential and help them achieve their biggest possible futures. Big Brothers Big Sisters’ evidence-based approach is designed to create positive youth outcomes, including educational success, avoidance of risky behaviors, higher aspirations, greater confidence, and improved relationships.
