    Employment Type: Paid position, Part-Time-20 hour/week

    North Port Meals on Wheels is committed to serving some of the most vulnerable members of our community by delivering nutritious meals daily. Our dedicated team of volunteers and staff ensure that seniors and individuals in need receive not only meals but also vital social contact and care.

    Position Summary:
    The Lead Driver Coordinator plays a critical role in recruiting, scheduling, developing, and retaining Volunteer Delivery Drivers and Daily Driver Coordinators. This position supervises Daily Driver Coordinators and works closely with the Executive Director to maintain smooth delivery operations.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Volunteer Driver Recruitment and Management:
    • Assist in recruiting eligible volunteer delivery drivers through outreach and follow-up
    • Screen, track, and maintain volunteer information
    • Report recruitment outcomes to Executive Director for board reports
    Volunteer Driver Training and Scheduling:
    • Process paperwork and background checks for volunteers
    • Conduct initial training and schedule ride-alongs
    • Maintain volunteer driver rosters and communicate scheduling details
    • Coordinate substitutes and fill last-minute vacancies
    Daily Driver Coordinator Management:
    • Recruit, train, schedule, and support Daily Driver Coordinators
    • Foster team relationships and coordinate recognition efforts
    • Conduct bi-annual meetings to ensure consistency
    Other Duties:
    • Serve as a backup driver when volunteers or coordinators are unavailable
    • Deliver missed meals as necessary
    • Perform additional related duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Experience working with adults and volunteers
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Valid Driver’s License, insurance, and cell phone required
    • Ability to pass a background check

    Physical Requirements:
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and computer work
    • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds occasionally
