HCA Florida Englewood Hospital will host a Wellness Series sharing education on the basics of organ, eye and tissue donation

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. August 10, 2023 –  The monthly Wellness Series hosted by HCA Florida Englewood Hospital continues with “The Basics of Organ, Eye and Tissue Donation” on Thursday, August 24, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The event will be held at the Suncoast Auditorium at 779 Medical Drive in Englewood.

Every year, more than 33,000 men, women and children receive the gift of a lifesaving organ transplant and every 10 minutes, someone’s name is added to the National Transplant waiting list.
 
Organ donation is a gift that provides renewed life to a patient in need. After a life-saving heart, liver, lung, kidney, pancreas or small intestine transplant, many transplant recipients go on to lead normal, active and productive lives – working, spending time with family, contributing to their community and making memories which would be otherwise impossible.
 
Join Englewood Hospital for a complimentary breakfast and learn about organ, eye & tissue donation from a LifeLink of Florida representative. Meet a transplant recipient and hear the heartwarming story of how their life has been positively impacted through this life-saving gift.
 
"We have participated in the Annual Workplace Partnership for Life Campaign for many years in order to educate our community about the crucial need for organ, eye and tissue donation,”  said CEO Steve Young. "One donor can save eight lives and improve the lives of 75 more. There simply aren’t enough organs to meet the need."
 
This national initiative is sponsored by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
 
A free breakfast will be served and convenient parking is available.
