• Mental Health Open House in Venice/North Port 6/2

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Sarasota and Manatee Counties invites community members, partners, supporters, and local leaders to attend an Open House at its YANA (You Are Not Alone) Wellness Drop-In Center in Venice on June 2 from 3:30-5:00 PM. The Open House will also feature a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility at 4:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.

The Open House will offer guests a chance to celebrate NAMI’s recent national certification by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and to learn more about the organization’s leadership role in providing free, peer-led mental health support programs and education throughout the region. NAMI Sarasota and Manatee Counties is the only NAMI affiliate in the United States currently accredited by COA.

NAMI provides more than 17 different, free peer-led programs for youth, adults, families, and caregivers living with mental health conditions throughout Sarasota, Manatee, and now DeSoto counties. Its YANA Wellness Drop-In Center in Venice provides free meals, support, and education for adults in Venice, North Port, and Wellen Park Monday through Friday from 9AM-3PM.

“This celebration is an opportunity for the community to meet our team and to experience firsthand the support, connection, and hope that NAMI and our YANA Centers provide each and every day for individuals, families, and caregivers living with mental health conditions,” said NAMI Sarasota and Manatee Counties CEO Colleen Thayer. “We are honored to share this special event with the people, partners, and local organizations who make our mission possible.”
